The web site entitled "The History of Costume Index" was visited on July 7, 1997 by Gwenn Carney-Rundle. The visit was initiated because I am a teacher of Gifted and Talented students in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School District, and will be doing a project on costume history in September.

This site was precise and to the point in regards to its content and illustrations regarding costume of the time periods1600-1800. The illustrations were very detailed and showed some historical relevance to that period. The pictures were also available to viewers to enlarge for a closer look.

The time it took to load from the web was moments, and the asthetics of page were simple but pleasing to the eye. There were no sounds and no links to frill and confuse the reader. The facts given were probably more clear and detailed than an encyclopedia, and easier to access.

I used Alta Vista to locate the page. Historic dates of the sketches were given for each piece, which adds to the value of the site.
